Camilla’s Christmas Cheer

Summer is here and it’s time to have a bit of me-time (oh, yeah, and family time…). I hope you have been good as Santa is coming!

I’m going to head up the coast to eat fresh seafood, have beautiful swims in the ocean, and try to knock over my forever growing pile of books to read (that one day I will get to)!

Last year I was firmly in the tech and AI theme over summer. In a change, this year’s reading list holds a few books firmly in my wheelhouse.

Firstly, the goal is to finish the Undiversified – the Great Gender Short In Investment Management by Ellen Carr and Katrina Dudley. This book succinctly puts into writing the challenges that affect the investment management business when it comes to gender diversity. Whilst this book isn’t something I don’t already know, it is great to see it backed up with evidence and anecdotes. It’s great to utilise this as part of what I do with F3 - Future Females in Finance is to help support the mindset development of the next generation of talent in financial services.

The next book in my reading pile is Women in Leadership by Julia Gillard and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. I have been loaned this book and am keen to get different perspectives of women across the globe on what it means as a female leader, and how they deal with the pressures and complexities of juggling the leadership standards set and judged by the opposite sex.

I’m also keen to do a deep dive into communities. How they engage, develop, and organically grow. I’m keen to apply these principles in greater importance in many areas of my life including at eInvest, and further develop the great community we have built around our investors and education, making it simple to understand. One podcast that I’m keen to delve into is Cohere. This will be my go-to on those long summer evening walks.

Also one for the parents out there: I’m keen to continue reading part of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series with my 9-year-old. I’m really enjoying the action, mythology and double-crossing that has occurred in the first book.

I trust you are all having a well-deserved break over this summer period after the craziness of the past few years. As always, thanks for supporting us here at F3, and I wish you all the best for your rest and recharge time and I look forward to what 2022 brings.

Enjoy your summer!
